Jim Oeppen

Jim Oeppen is an Emeritus Associate Professor at the Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics (CPop), part of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark. His research focuses on health inequalities in ageing, methodological advancements in mortality forecasting (using Compositional Data Analysis and Optimal Transport Methods), and long-term demographic trends. He has contributed to understanding historical and future life expectancy trajectories and family member coexistence through demographic microsimulation.

Previously affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Germany) and the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure (UK), he brings interdisciplinary expertise to population dynamics studies. His work bridges historical demography with contemporary public health challenges.
