معرفی
Dr. Jim Jordan is a Lecturer in Geography at Swansea University's School of Biosciences, Geography and Physics. His research focuses on ice-ocean interactions and Antarctic glaciology, particularly modeling future sea-level contributions from warming climates. He leads the CalvingMIP project, a global initiative improving ice shelf calving models. His career includes postdoctoral roles at institutions like the University of Cambridge and British Antarctic Survey, alongside a PhD from Imperial College London.
Education:
- PhD – Earth Science and Engineering (2015-2017), Imperial College London
- MSc – Applied Physical Oceanography (2010-2011), University of Bangor
- BSc – Physics (2009-2010), University of Bristol
Research Interests: Coupled ice-ocean modeling, ice shelf stability, Antarctic mass balance projections, and climate change impacts. His work integrates advanced numerical models with observational data to understand polar processes.
Publications: Recent studies explore East Antarctic ice dynamics, calving mechanics, and sea-level rise projections using multi-model intercomparison frameworks. Key contributions address warm water intrusion effects and grounding line sensitivity.
Grants & Projects: Leads CalvingMIP, coordinates with global institutions on cryospheric modeling. Supervises postgraduate research in glaciology and polar oceanography.
Labs/Teams: Core member of Swansea's Geography research group, collaborating with PROTECT EU project for cryosphere projections.
