Jill Litt is a Professor of Environmental Health in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Colorado Boulder and a Senior Researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Global Health (ISGlobal). She holds a PhD in environmental health and public policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the intersection of built and natural environments with health behaviors, leveraging community-based participatory methods, epidemiology, and ethnography.
Dr. Litt’s work spans urban environmental health challenges, including brownfields redevelopment, environmental justice, and the role of community gardens in health equity. She has led major projects such as the Horizon 2020-funded RECETAS Consortium, developing nature-based interventions to combat loneliness, and the REMEDHY project analyzing environmental aesthetics’ impact on health. Her research also includes a NIH-funded randomized trial on community gardening’s effects on low-income families’ health behaviors.
