Jill E. Pearlman is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Studies at Bowdoin College, specializing in the history of architecture and urbanism. She holds a PhD from the University of Chicago, MA from the University of California, and BA from Beloit College. Her research explores cultural biographies of buildings and the evolution of modernist architecture.
Research interests include the dynamic life of architectural spaces, modernist communities, and urban transformations. Publications focus on figures like Joseph Hudnut and sites such as Hampstead's Lawn Road Flats.
Awards include multiple fellowships from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation and grants from the Paul Mellon Centre and Graham Foundation. Current projects examine Britain's Lawn Road Flats and modernist life in Greater Boston.
