Jie Yao

Jie Yao is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Russian and East Asian Languages and Cultures at Emory University. Previously, she held teaching roles at Henan University of Economics and Law, including as an English instructor. She completed a Fulbright Language Teaching Assistantship at Emory in 2016-2017 while pursuing postgraduate studies. Her affiliations include the School of Foreign Languages at her alma mater and current engagement at Emory's Modern Languages Building.

Education: B.A. in Business English (Henan Institute of Finance and Economics), M.A. in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics (Central China Normal University).

Research focuses on Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, and integrating technology into Content-Based Instruction across English and Chinese. She explores pedagogical strategies in translation studies and language education.

Awards include the Fulbright Fellowship for her teaching assistant role at Emory. Office hours are held Tuesdays 1-2pm via Zoom and Thursdays 10-11am in-person at Modern Languages Building, Room 116.
