Jie Xiao

Dr. Jie Xiao is a University Research Professor at the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, Memorial University of Newfoundland. He holds a PhD from Peking University and has been recognized with awards like the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship (1999) and the Dean of Science Distinguished Scholar Medal (2009). His research focuses on geometric analysis, partial differential equations, and their interplay with harmonic analysis, complex variables, and operator theory. Xiao’s work bridges functional analysis and geometry, applying techniques from function spaces and potential theory to conformal geometry and equations like Navier-Stokes and wave equations. He is the author of several textbooks, including Qα Analysis on Euclidean Spaces (2019) and Integral and Functional Analysis (2008).

Teaching responsibilities include graduate courses such as Harmonic Analysis, Measure Theory, and undergraduate modules like Lebesgue Integration and Vector Calculus. He has supervised over ten graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars. Xiao serves as Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Analysis and Geometry and Canadian Mathematical Bulletin, and as Division Editor for Journal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications.
