Jie Shen is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Purdue University and currently serves as Chair Professor and Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences at the Eastern Institute of Technology in Ningbo, China. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Paris-Sud (now University of Paris-Saclay), France (1987) and a B.S. in Computational Mathematics from Peking University, China (1982). His research focuses on numerical analysis, spectral methods, scientific computing, computational fluid dynamics, and computational materials science.
- Professional roles: Editor for journals such as CSIAM Transaction on Applied Mathematics, Communications on Applied Mathematics and Computation, and others.
- Guest Professorship: Xiamen University (2002–present).
