Jianxu Chen

Dr. Jianxu Chen is a Research Group Leader at the Leibniz-Institut für Analytische Wissenschaften – ISAS – e.V. in Dortmund, leading the AMBIOM research group funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). His research focuses on biomedical image analysis, deep learning, and scalable AI-driven solutions for microscopy data. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of Notre Dame and previously worked at the Allen Institute for Cell Science, where he developed microscopy image analysis algorithms.

His work emphasizes optimizing image compression techniques for bioimaging, balancing compression efficiency with minimal impact on downstream AI tasks like label-free prediction. Key contributions include empirical studies on deep-learning-based compression methods for 2D/3D microscopy images, published in Biological Imaging (2024).
