Jianwei Lyu is an Assistant Research Professor at the Steward Observatory, part of the University of Arizona, with a Ph.D. in Astronomy & Astrophysics from 2020. His research primarily focuses on extragalactic astronomy, particularly active galactic nuclei (AGN), AGN-galaxy evolution, and dust properties, utilizing infrared observations and advanced multi-wavelength techniques.
- Education: Ph.D. (2020) from University of Arizona, M.S. (2014) from Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, and B.S. (2011) from University of Science and Technology of China.
Dr. Lyu specializes in infrared properties of AGN and their host galaxies, employing spectral energy distribution (SED) analysis, near- to mid-IR reverberation mapping, and spatially-resolved imaging and spectroscopy. His work involves studying obscured AGN across cosmic time, dust and PAH properties in starburst galaxies, and leveraging data from ground- and space-based telescopes like JWST/MIRI. He also engages in numerical simulations and complex modeling to interpret observations.
