Jianping Wang

Dr. Jianping Wang is an Associate Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. His research investigates the interplay between the immune and nervous systems, particularly focusing on how interferons influence neuropsychiatric disorders while also serving protective roles in host defense against infections.

He holds an MD and MS in Immunology from Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, a PhD in Pharmacology from Louisiana State University Medical Center, and completed post-doctoral training at the NIH/Scripps Research Institute.

His publications demonstrate consistent focus on interferon signaling pathways in the CNS across animal models. Recent work explores interferon's dual roles in autoimmune disorders (like lupus) and neurodevelopmental conditions including depression, schizophrenia, and autism. Laboratory techniques integrate behavioral tests with molecular and genetic approaches to dissect cytokine pathways.
