Professor Jianfu Chen is an Honorary Professorial Fellow at Melbourne Law School and an Emeritus Professor at La Trobe University. He holds Fellowships from the Australian Academy of Law and the Australian Academy of Humanities. His expertise spans international and comparative law, international trade law, human rights law, globalization, and Chinese law, employing a socio-legal approach that integrates political, economic, and cultural contexts.
Professor Chen has led major international research projects, including ARC Discovery Projects, and authored/co-authored over 20 books and 80+ journal articles. His work examines legal systems evolution in China, global trade dynamics, and socio-political influences on law. Notable publications include foundational texts on Chinese civil law, global trade policy, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
