Jesus Galaz serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Product Design at ArtCenter College of Design, teaching advanced courses including Visual Communication 5, Keyshot II, Product Design 4, and 3D Modeling 2. He concurrently instructs Advanced Solidworks at Mt. San Antonio College, preparing students for CSWA and CSWP certifications. With 25 years of industry experience, he currently works as Design Engineering at Momant Inc and as an advanced surface modeler for an aerospace startup, following his tenure as Design Manager for Jacuzzi Brands Inc overseeing brands like Jacuzzi and Sundance Spas.
His expertise centers on precision 3D surfacing techniques for complex applications across aerospace, consumer products, and museum exhibits. Galaz specializes in translating conceptual surfaces into manufacturable forms using industry-standard tools like Solidworks and Keyshot, with notable collaborations including Kawasaki, AeroViroment, and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. His teaching philosophy emphasizes starting with desired surface outcomes rather than iterative block modification.
Galaz integrates professional practice with academia through industry partnerships with Dacor, Linespace Studios, and bath product manufacturers. Outside professional work, he applies photography skills to 3D rendering projects while pursuing drone operation, hiking, and biking activities that inform his design perspective.
