Jesus Chairez-Garza is Senior Lecturer in Modern History (Race & Ethn) at the University of Manchester, specializing in caste, race, and Dalit studies. His research examines the political thought of B.R. Ambedkar and racial theories of untouchability in colonial and post-colonial India.
Chairez-Garza's work explores transnational dimensions of anti-caste thought, intellectual exchanges between Indian and Western thinkers, and the racialization of social difference. Current projects investigate revolutionary movements, historical memory, and the intersections between caste politics and anti-colonial resistance.
His publications analyze how concepts of race and untouchability were constructed through global intellectual networks, challenging conventional understandings of caste hierarchy and racial difference in South Asian history.
