Jessika Contreras, MD is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine and serves as Chief of the Gynecologic and Brachytherapy Services. She completed her residency in Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine where she served as chief resident, and previously earned her medical degree from the University of South Florida where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.

Dr. Contreras specializes in the treatment of patients with gynecologic malignancies using state-of-the-art image guidance and novel technologies. Her clinical practice and research interests include brachytherapy in gynecologic cancers, adaptive radiation therapy, advanced image-guided radiation therapy, proton therapy, and MRI-guided radiation therapy. She has demonstrated commitment to improving patient outcomes through clinical research and expanding access to care in underserved populations.
Her extensive publication record spanning over a decade shows consistent focus on improving radiation therapy techniques, with recent work emphasizing MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy, treatment outcomes for gynecologic cancers, and addressing health disparities in cancer care. Her research demonstrates a progression from foundational work in radiation physics and technique development to more recent clinical outcomes and health equity studies.

Dr. Contreras has been actively involved in numerous clinical trials and research initiatives, particularly in developing and implementing advanced radiation therapy techniques for gynecologic cancers. Her work on MRI-guided adaptive radiotherapy has been particularly influential in the field. She previously led the Gynecologic and Brachytherapy services at Miami Cancer Institute before returning to Washington University.
She maintains active clinical practice at Siteman Cancer Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where she applies her expertise in cutting-edge radiation therapy techniques to treat patients with complex gynecologic malignancies while continuing her research to improve treatment approaches and patient outcomes.
