Dr. Jessica Webb is a Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the University of Adelaide, affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. She holds honorary research fellow positions at the Peter Doherty Institute (University of Melbourne) and Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin. Her expertise revolves around molecular microbiology, computational approaches to pathogen genomics, and melioidosis research. She has pioneered initiatives such as the Australian Pathogen Genomics Program and leads global efforts in Burkholderia strain genotyping via PubMLST. Her work integrates genomic and epidemiological data to combat antimicrobial resistance and improve public health outcomes.
Research interests include tracking B. pseudomallei distribution, understanding pathogen transmission dynamics, and developing genomic tools to reduce disease burden. She collaborates internationally, contributing to both academic and applied public health projects. Supervision opportunities are available for Master’s and PhD students interested in bioinformatics and infectious disease research.
