Jessica Meharry is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Institute of Design (ID) within Illinois Institute of Technology. She specializes in justice-oriented design methodologies, focusing on anti-oppressive frameworks and equity-driven practices. Her roles include teaching courses on the politics of design, critical contexts, and design research philosophy.
She holds a PhD from ID, an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design, and a BS from Northwestern University. Her research intersects anti-oppressive design practices, anti-racist futures through design methods, and equity in design education.
- Research Projects: Anti-oppressive design framework for ICTs, collaborative work on anti-racist organizational futures.
- Industry Experience: 20+ years in design management, former Director of Academic DEI at Columbia College Chicago.
Recipient of the 2017 AIGA Design Educators Grant and an award-winning graphic designer. Co-authoring a forthcoming book on design client partnerships (Bloomsbury, 2023).
