Jessica Meeuwig

Jessica Meeuwig is a Professor and Professorial Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Western Australia, holding the Wen Family Chair in Conservation. She is also affiliated with the UWA Oceans Institute. Her roles include leading research on marine conservation, fisheries ecology, and marine policy.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on fish and fisheries ecology, predictive modeling for conservation, marine policy development, and the ecological impacts of ocean infrastructure. Key areas include marine protected areas, pelagic predator behavior, and the effects of human activity on marine ecosystems. She emphasizes sustainable fisheries management and climate adaptation strategies.

Grants & Projects: She leads major grants including 'Supporting global marine conservation' (Blue Abacus Ltd), 'Community-Driven Monitoring of the open-ocean wildlife of the Cocos (Keeling) Marine Park' (Parks Australia), and 'Blue Carbon sequestration supports climate adaptation in the Indian Ocean' (Australia-India Council). These projects address marine biodiversity, climate resilience, and policy interventions.
