Jessica L. Carpenter

Jessica L. Carpenter is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). She also serves as a staff clinician for GEB-SDGE at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).

Her work integrates advanced neuroimaging techniques and continuous EEG monitoring to address acute and chronic neurological conditions in children.

Recent publications highlight her contributions to optimizing interventions for rare neurological syndromes (e.g., FIRES), mechanical thrombectomy in pediatric stroke, and neurological outcomes following congenital heart disease surgery. She also explores neuromonitoring strategies in neonatal intensive care and investigates the pathophysiology of acute encephalopathy and flaccid myelitis.
