Jessica L. Beyer

Jessica L. Beyer holds dual appointments as a Principal Research Scientist at the Center for Studies in Demography & Ecology and Lecturer at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, where she also co-leads the Cybersecurity Initiative. Her institutional roles bridge demographic research with international policy analysis, focusing on technology governance challenges.

Her research critically examines international cybersecurity politics through the lens of Internet of Things deployments in physical infrastructure, analyzing how sensor networks create new security vulnerabilities. She investigates disinformation/misinformation dynamics in online communities while building on prior work about political mobilization by hacktivist collectives like Anonymous. This interdisciplinary approach connects technical systems with sociopolitical outcomes in digital spaces.
