Jessica Henson is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Southern California’s School of Architecture. She is also a Partner at OLIN, where she leads projects focused on socially and environmentally resilient infrastructure. Her work emphasizes equitable community development through anticipatory design solutions addressing flooding, water resource management, and hydrological contexts. Notable projects include the Los Angeles County LA River Master Plan, the Rio Hondo Confluence Area Project, and the U.S. Embassies in London and Brasilia.
Her research explores the interplay between hydrology, culture, and social equity. She authored “Wet + Dry: Rethinking the Mississippi River Cross-Section”, analyzing hydrosocial dynamics in Upper Mississippi communities, and co-edited “Fresh Water: Design Research for Inland Water Territories”, addressing North America’s inland watershed challenges. She has taught at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Pennsylvania, emphasizing holistic approaches to urban systems and landscape infrastructure.
Jessica currently teaches the Landscape Architecture Design studio (ARCH 542aL), focusing on multi-benefit urban infrastructure and equitable metropolitan frameworks. Her pedagogical approach integrates fieldwork, GIS mapping, and community engagement to drive real-world impact.
