معرفی
Jessica Gersony is an Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences at Smith College, where she leads the PLant physiology, Art, and Community Engagement (PLACE) Lab. Her work bridges plant physiology, climate change research, and art-science integration, focusing on how plants respond to environmental stressors like drought.
- PhD in Biology, Harvard University
- B.A. in Biological Sciences, Columbia University
Research Interests: Investigates plant physiological responses to climate change, particularly carbon movement and drought resilience in tree species. Combines scientific inquiry with artistic practice to explore themes like water dynamics, nonstructural carbohydrates, and human-planet interactions.
Publications: Recent works examine global carbohydrate variation, phloem sugar content in oaks, and carbon-water dynamics in mature trees, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches to ecological challenges.
Community Engagement: Collaborates with Holyoke Community College and Alabama A&M University to advance urban forest equity and understand regional forest resilience. Integrates DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) principles into scientific practice and pedagogy.
