معرفی
Jessica Epstein is the Department Chair and Professor of Chemistry at Saint Peter’s University. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. Her research focuses on DNA replication mechanisms, biochemistry, and chemical education. Before academia, she worked at Merck Research Labs on bacterial DNA replication studies.
Dr. Epstein’s teaching philosophy emphasizes active learning, encouraging students to engage with problem-solving through collaborative and hands-on approaches. She teaches courses including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Synthetic Organic Chemistry. Her publications span chemical history, educational methodologies, and biomaterials science.
- Accomplishments: Kenny Fellowship, Harvard Teaching Fellowship, NRSA Fellowship, and membership in Alpha Chi Sigma and Gamma Sigma Epsilon.
- Grants/Awards: Active in peer review for Journal of Chemical Education and Advances in Nutrition and Food Science.
Her work bridges historical perspectives (e.g., redefining the kilogram’s impact on Avogadro’s number) with practical applications like antimicrobial biomaterials and biofuel synthesis. She advocates for chemistry’s role in global security and ethical scientific practices.
