Case Western Reserve Universityمعرفی
Jesse S. Wainright, PhD, is a Research Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), affiliated with the Electrochemical Engineering and Energy Lab (EEEL) within the Case School of Engineering. He holds an adjunct professor title and previously worked as a research engineer at Standard Oil and BP. His research focuses on electrochemical power sources, including fuel cells, batteries, and supercapacitors, with an emphasis on novel battery chemistries and grid-scale energy storage solutions. Dr. Wainright’s work integrates experimental and theoretical studies of ionic conductivity, material development (e.g., electrolytes, catalysts), and fabrication techniques like microfabrication and 3D printing.
He leads projects funded by DOE (Basic Energy Science and Office of Electricity) and NIH, advancing breakthrough electrolytes in deep eutectic solvents, slurry electrode concepts for all-iron flow batteries, and electrochemical nerve block technologies. His teaching includes courses on separation processes and senior laboratory practices.
Notable contributions include patents for composite membranes in flow batteries and iron flow battery systems for grid storage. His publications span journals like J. Electrochem. Soc. and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, addressing topics from redox flow battery design to electrochemical nerve block applications.
