Dr. Jesse Heilman is an Associate Professor of Experimental Physics at Carleton University. His research focuses on the ATLAS Experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, specifically dark matter signatures ('Emerging Jets') and detector development for the New Small Wheel Upgrade. He teaches courses including Foundations of Physics, Quantum Mechanics, and Experimental Nuclear Physics.
Current projects include GridPix detector R&D for precision particle tracking and dark matter signature analysis using LHC collision data. His research group contributes to international collaborations at the forefront of particle physics.
Dr. Heilman mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers in particle physics techniques and detector technology development, with former students working on background estimation methods for emerging jets and muon triggering systems.
