Jess Lee is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Her research focuses on race, ethnicity, and sexualities, particularly examining how socio-structural factors shape identity boundaries among marginalized groups. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from UC Irvine, with additional degrees from CUNY Graduate Center and Mount Holyoke College.
Her work explores Asian American ethnic heterogeneity, LGBTQ+ rights, and intersectional identities. Key themes include pan-ethnic solidarity, respectability politics, and the impact of immigration on cultural assimilation. Lee teaches courses like SOC 315 (Global Race and Ethnic Relations) and SOC 316 (American Ethnic Minorities).
