Jess Bowers

Jess Bowers is an Associate Professor and BSW Program Director in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She coordinates the Social Work Field Education Program and holds licenses in school social work and advanced practice social work.

• Education: MSW (Child Welfare concentration) from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Social Work from University of Wisconsin-Madison, and B.A. in Sociology from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point

Her research focuses on Child Abuse Prevention and Child Welfare, emphasizing community-based interventions and ethical practice frameworks. Recent publications highlight religious/spiritual dimensions in social work and voluntary service models for families outside traditional child protective systems.

Key awards include the UW-Stevens Point University Service Award (2023). She serves on the Center for Prevention Advisory Committee for the Dean of Students and the Portage County Hoarding Task Force.
