Jesper Strömbäck is a Professor and Assistant Head of Department at the Journalism Media and Communication (JMG) department at the University of Gothenburg. Previously, he held professorial positions at Mid Sweden University and served as a visiting professor at the University of Zürich and University of Florida. He also worked in Sweden's Prime Minister’s Office as Director of the Commission on the Future of Sweden (2011–2013). His research focuses on political communication, media effects, disinformation, and democratic processes.
Strömbäck’s current projects explore changing media environments and their democratic impacts, knowledge resistance mechanisms, and societal fragmentation. He leads the Network of European Political Communication Scholars (Nepocs) and is an International Communication Association fellow.
