Jerry Davis is a Professor in the School of the Environment at San Francisco State University (SFSU). He specializes in geomorphology, watershed analysis, and environmental data science, with a focus on integrating remote sensing technologies like UAS (drones) and GIS into ecological research. His work addresses biogeomorphic processes in montane meadows, coastal streams, and karst systems, emphasizing restoration effectiveness and climate change impacts. Davis holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and teaches courses such as Environmental Data Science and GIS for Environmental Analysis.
Research Interests:
- Geomorphological field methods and hydrological processes
- Low-altitude remote sensing (LiDAR, UAS)
- GIS surface modeling and spatial statistics
- Environmental data science using Python/R
- Stream restoration assessment and meadow biogeomorphology
Recent work trends focus on:
- Multi-sensor integration for ecosystem monitoring
- Carbon/water flux dynamics in mountain ecosystems
- Open-source tools for scaling environmental data analysis
- Impact assessments of beaver dams and wildfire disturbances
Labs/Teams: Active member of the Institute of Geographic Information Science at SFSU, developing educational resources and applied research projects in environmental geomatics.
