معرفی
Jerome Goddard II is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Auburn University Montgomery (AUM), where he also serves as Assistant to the Chair. His research lies at the intersection of applied mathematics and spatial ecology, with a focus on reaction-diffusion models to study population dynamics, dispersal behavior, and habitat fragmentation. He collaborates with ecologists and entomologists across institutions including Louisiana State University, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Mississippi State University.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences, Mississippi State University (2011)
- M.S. in Mathematics, Mississippi College (2006)
- B.S. in Mathematics, Mississippi College (2004)
His research interests include spatial ecology, density-dependent dispersal, Allee effects, nonlinear boundary conditions, and mathematical modeling of medically important arthropods such as bed bugs and ticks. His work combines theoretical analysis, computational modeling, and empirical data to explore population persistence and coexistence.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend in mathematical biosciences, particularly in modeling dispersal mechanisms, bifurcation structures, and ecological consequences of habitat fragmentation. His work frequently employs nonlinear analysis and reaction-diffusion frameworks to study steady-state solutions and population dynamics.
Scientific Awards and Recognition:
- Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award (2×), Mississippi State University
- School of Sciences Junior Faculty Award, AUM (2012)
- 2014 Excellence in Service to Students Award, AUM
- 2017 Outstanding Faculty Award, Department of Mathematics, AUM
- Junior District Award of Merit, Boy Scouts of America (2007)
- Award-winning co-author of The Goddard Guide to Arthropods of Medical Importance
He has supervised and mentored undergraduate students in research projects, particularly in experimental and mathematical studies of dispersal. He has been involved in NSF-funded collaborative research on density-dependent dispersal. His lab and team involve interdisciplinary collaborations across mathematics, biology, and entomology, with fieldwork conducted in Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina.
