Dr. Jeroen van der Lubbe is an Assistant Professor at the VU University Amsterdam, affiliated with the Faculty of Science and the Department of Earth Sciences. His research focuses on paleoclimatology, geochemistry, and sedimentology, particularly in understanding climate dynamics and geological processes across timescales. He contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and environmental protection.
Key research areas include Pleistocene climate variability, isotopic analysis of minerals, and sediment provenance studies. Recent publications explore topics like the Indo-Pacific Walker circulation's role in African aridification and the impact of precession on ice sheet dynamics.
He has received the Europlanet 2024 RI Transnational Access grant. His work is supported by datasets on micrometeorites, sediment cores, and clumped isotopes. Dr. van der Lubbe teaches courses on paleoclimate change, climate-humanity interactions, and research projects in Earth & Climate studies.
