معرفی
Jeroen van Zon is a Group Leader at AMOLF, focusing on Quantitative Developmental Biology. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics (2006) and a Physics degree (2002) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His postdoctoral work included studying molecular noise in cell fate patterning at MIT (2008–2010) under Prof. Alexander van Oudenaarden. He has pioneered computational and experimental approaches to understand stochastic processes in developmental biology, particularly in C. elegans and intestinal organoids.
Research Interests:
Dr. van Zon’s work integrates biophysics, systems biology, and developmental biology to study cell fate decisions, tissue homeostasis, and noise-driven developmental processes. He develops tools like OrganoidTracker for quantitative cell tracking and employs CRISPR-based methods to study gene regulation in organoids. Key themes include:
- Stochasticity in cell signaling and differentiation
- Mechanisms of robustness in self-renewing tissues
- Temporal coordination in whole-animal development
Awards:
-
- Human Frontier Science Program Fellowship (2008)
Advancing Cell Tracking Technology:
His lab has developed novel methods for live-cell imaging and error-prediction algorithms to study organoid dynamics. Collaborations span experimental biology, computational modeling, and engineering to bridge scales from molecular fluctuations to tissue-level patterns.
AMOLF Affiliations:
His group is part of AMOLF’s Physics of Behavior and Biochemical Networks research lines, leveraging interdisciplinary approaches to unravel fundamental biological principles.
