Jeroen Smeets

Jeroen Smeets is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Department of Human Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focuses on interception, prehension, and illusions in perception and action, conducted in collaboration with Eli Brenner. He has contributed to understanding how humans use visual and sensory information to guide movements, addressing neural delays and sensory calibration in motor tasks.

Research Themes:

• Interception: Studies on intercepting moving targets, emphasizing the role of neural delays and online error correction.
• Prehension: Development of a mathematical model unifying grasping and pointing, tested through experimental studies.
