Jeri English serves as an Associate Professor in the Teaching Stream within the Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough, concurrently holding the position of Associate Chair for French. Her academic appointment encompasses cross-disciplinary engagement with French studies and Women’s & Gender Studies.
Her research specializes in feminist literary, film, and cultural theories, with concentrated expertise in contemporary French and Hollywood cinema, autobiographical narratives, and 20th-21st century French women writers. Key scholarly focus areas include representations of gender, identity, and power structures across cinematic and literary works by figures such as Rachilde, Simone de Beauvoir, and Denis Villeneuve. Current investigations explore the monstrous, abject, and uncanny within contemporary science fiction film discourses.
