Professor Jeremy Turnbull is Professor of Glycosciences at Keele University's School of Life Sciences with additional part-time appointments as Professor of Proteoglycans and Extracellular Matrix at the University of Copenhagen, Adjunct Professor at Ferrier Institute (New Zealand), and Visiting Professor at Imperial College London. His research focuses on structure-function relationships of heparan sulfate polysaccharides in biological processes and disease, particularly in cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and viral infections like COVID-19.
His laboratory has developed innovative glycomics strategies including saccharide sequencing techniques, synthetic libraries, and microarrays. This work has led to next-generation heparin drugs and the founding of spin-out company IntelliHep. His research has secured over £19M in funding and resulted in 153 publications with an H-index of 55.
