Jeremy Rapport is an Associate Professor of Religious Studies at The College of Wooster. He holds a B.A. (1998) and M.A. (2002) from the University of Kansas, and a Ph.D. (2010) from Indiana University. His research focuses on American religious history, new religious movements, and intersections of religion with science and culture. Rapport’s work often examines marginalized religious groups, such as Christian Science, Unity School of Christianity, and Scientology, analyzing their theological frameworks and societal impacts.
Key research interests include the role of science in shaping religious thought, dietary practices in sects like Seventh-Day Adventists, and the cultural significance of religious leaders like Mary Baker Eddy and Jemima Wilkinson. His publications span academic critiques of contemporary movements like UFO religions and historical studies of esoteric traditions in France and early America.
