Jeremy Kidd is a Professor of Law at Drake University's College of Law. He holds a JD from George Mason University School of Law (magna cum laude), a PhD in Economics from Utah State University, and a BA from Utah State University (magna cum laude). His areas of expertise include Corporate Law, Securities Regulation, Commercial Law, Administrative Law, Law and Economics, and Public Choice Theory.
Prof. Kidd has held roles including Drake Law School professor since 2021, previously serving as Associate Professor at Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law, Visiting Professor at George Mason University, and law clerk to federal judges. His professional background also includes legal practice at Ballard Spahr LLP in Washington, DC, and Strong & Hanni in Utah.
His research focuses on intersections between economics and law, particularly corporate governance, securities regulation, and public choice theory. Notable work includes studies on litigation financing, judicial selection metrics, and regulatory frameworks for emerging industries like fintech and gig economies. He co-authored Mastering Sales (2018) and frequently publishes in top law reviews such as the Alabama Law Review and San Diego Law Review.
Recent scholarship addresses modern legal challenges like cryptocurrency regulation, antitrust in digital markets, and the societal impacts of artificial intelligence. He actively contributes to Drake Law’s curriculum development and is involved in initiatives like the new Artificial Intelligence Law Certificate Program.
