Jeremy Greenwood is a Professor of Economics at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Economics (School of Arts & Sciences), holding the title since 2006. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and the Society for the Advancement of Economic Theory, and a Research Associate at the NBER.
Research Focus: His work examines the impact of technological progress on macroeconomic dynamics, including household behavior, labor markets, financial systems, and social structures. Key themes include the effects of digital advertising on consumer welfare, the role of household technology in women’s labor force participation, and the opioid epidemic’s impact on labor force participation.
Recent Work Trends: Recent articles analyze opioid-driven labor decline (post-pandemic), venture capital’s role in technology adoption, and historical shifts in family economics. His 2019 book Evolving Households explores how technological advancements reshape social norms and demographics.
