معرفی
Professor Jeremy Allam holds the Chair in Ultrafast Optoelectronics at the University of Surrey's Advanced Technology Institute (ATI), part of the School of Mathematics and Physics. His research focuses on ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductors, high-speed photonic measurement technologies, and nanocarbon-based systems. He leads the PHY3047 Photonics and Nanotechnology module and has pioneered a state-of-the-art ultrafast laser facility enabling sub-100 fs optical pulses across UV to mid-IR wavelengths.
Education: BSc in Physics from the University of Oxford, PhD from the University of Surrey. Career: Postdoctoral research at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory before establishing his research group in 1990. Appointed to his current Chair in 2000.
Research interests include exciton dynamics in carbon nanotubes, light trapping mechanisms in graphene multilayers, and photocatalytic systems involving porphyrin-nanocarbon complexes. Key findings include demonstrating resonance-enhanced luminescence in porphyrin-CNT agglomerates and ultra-broadband absorption in nanotextured graphene structures.
Publications span over 50 peer-reviewed articles since 2003, with recent work addressing energy transfer kinetics in nanohybrid systems. His work integrates experimental physics with advanced measurement techniques, emphasizing applications in renewable energy and optoelectronics.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Ultrafast Optoelectronics group at ATI. Collaborations include Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory, AT&T Bell Labs, and international academic partners in materials science and photonics.
