Jens Krömer

Jens Krömer is a Group Leader at the Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany, and a former Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland (2012–2017). His research focuses on systems biotechnology, integrating metabolic modeling and advanced analytical tools to engineer cell factories for sustainable production of fuels, chemicals, and therapeutics. He also investigates host-microbe interactions in marine sponges and optimizes bioelectrochemical systems for CO2 valorization and renewable energy applications.
