Jens Iuel-Stissing is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sustainability and Planning within the The Technical Faculty of IT and Design at Aalborg University. He is affiliated with the Planning for Urban Sustainability Center and the Center for Design, Innovation and Sustainable Transitions. His research focuses on urban sustainability transitions, energy systems, policy analysis, and governance mechanisms. He leads major projects such as the ESPON MAK-RES and POLICYMIX4MOBILITY initiatives, which address renewable energy integration and sustainable urban mobility.
His work explores topics like biogas industry transitions, Danish energy policy configurations, and the role of urban experimentation in fostering sustainable practices. He has contributed to over 60 publications, including co-editing the anthology Planning for Urban Sustainability: Doctrines, Disciplines, and Practices. His projects often emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, such as the KINETIC project on inclusive community-driven energy transitions and GT-DynProb analyzing green transition dynamics in Denmark.
Recent research highlights include studies on governance of resource-making in energy systems, urban contingency planning frameworks, and the navigation of scattered agency in system transitions. His work bridges theoretical contributions with applied policy analysis, particularly in the context of Danish sustainability initiatives.
