Jens Hartmann

Assoz. Prof. Dr. Jens Hartmann is an Associate Professor and Head of the Process Engineering Unit at the Center for Biomedical Technology, University for Continuing Education Krems. His research focuses on extracorporeal blood purification technologies, biomedical engineering, and biomaterials for infectious disease treatment. Notable contributions include studies on cytokine removal, heparin neutralization, and SARS-CoV-2 detection via lateral flow assays. He holds patents for methods like citrate ion concentration measurement and endotoxin-binding lipopeptide dosing.

Prof. Hartmann is also an accomplished marine biologist and author of "Silent Worlds – Fascination Underwater," exploring marine biodiversity and environmental challenges. His diving expeditions and photography highlight both scientific and recreational interests in marine ecosystems.
