Jens Forssbaeck is an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Master's Program in Finance at Lund University's Department of Economics, part of the School of Economics and Business Administration. His primary affiliation is with Lund University, where he has held academic roles since at least 2003.
His research interests focus on financial economics, monetary policy, banking regulation, foreign direct investment (FDI), transparency mechanisms, and corporate finance. Key themes include the effects of market power on bank risk-taking, cross-border investment drivers, and the implications of banking union policies for EU resilience. He has also explored transparency's role in economic development and financial stability.
Forssbaeck has authored/co-authored 32 publications, including articles in Journal of Corporate Finance and Review of Finance, as well as book chapters and policy reports. Recent work addresses EU banking union reforms, bankruptcy mechanisms, and zombie economies. His 2022 work on EU banking resilience and 2021 analysis of transparency and development highlight his policy-relevant research.
He has supervised at least one PhD student (Najmeh Hajimirza, 2024-2026) and contributed to projects like The rise of Zombie economies (2022-2025). Active in academic networks, he has presented at conferences such as the FMA Annual Meeting (2018) and Herrenhausen Conference on Transparency (2018).
