Jenny Toonstra, PhD, ATC, LAT, ACUE, is a Clinical Associate Professor and Exercise Science Clinical Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training program at Marquette University's Department of Physical Therapy. She earned her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Kentucky and has held faculty positions at Bowling Green State University and Salisbury University.
- Education: PhD in Rehabilitation Science (University of Kentucky, 2014), MA in Athletic Training (Western Michigan University, 2003), BA in Exercise Science with Athletic Training emphasis (Calvin College, 1999)
- Research Interests: Cultural competence in athletic training education, social determinants of learning in student success, and rehabilitation adherence influenced by patient expectations and self-efficacy
- Professional Affiliations: National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA)
Dr. Toonstra teaches courses such as Modalities in Rehabilitation and Athletic Training Practicum, and she completed a fellowship in Knee, Shoulder, and Sports Medicine at The Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.
