Jenny Terry is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sussex, School of Psychology, focusing on teaching and scholarship in statistics education. She holds a PhD in Psychology (in progress) from the University of Sussex and a PGCert in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education from the University of Brighton. Her academic roles include convening first-year research methods and statistics modules, emphasizing R pedagogy and student emotional well-being.
Research Interests: Jenny’s work centers on statistics education, particularly the psychometric validation of anxiety scales, pedagogical approaches to R, and fostering inclusive learning environments. She leads the RoSE Network, a global initiative advancing statistics education research. Her studies explore the intersection of emotions, attitudes, and academic success in STEM fields.
Awards & Recognition: Jenny has been nominated for the University of Sussex Education Award (2023, 2024) and won the 2023 Research Culture Award for Open Science. She actively contributes to professional networks, including organizing international conferences like the RoSE e-Conference.
Teaching & Supervision: Jenny supervises undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, co-convenes modules like Psychology as a Science and Analysing Data. She advocates for evidence-based teaching practices and inclusive education strategies.
Professional Activities: As RoSE Network Director, she promotes collaborative research in statistics education. Her work includes editing the RoSE blog and organizing webinars on pedagogy and open science. She also serves on academic advisory groups, such as the APP Evaluations committee at Sussex.
