Jenny Murdoch is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Biomedical Sciences, Royal Holloway, University of London, with a focus on the molecular genetics of neural tube development. She leads research into genetic causes of neural tube defects using mouse models as accessible organisms for genetic, cellular, and molecular investigations.
- Research Interests: Neural tube defects (spina bifida, anencephaly), planar cell polarity pathway, Sonic hedgehog signaling pathway, and therapeutic agent testing for defect prevention.
- Projects: Funded by the Royal Society (2011-2012) and The Genetics Society (2010-2010) to explore Tulp3-interacting proteins and genetic mutagenesis.
- Students: Supervises Kayvan Hakim-Rad (PhD) and Kadeshia Dunn (MSc) in genetic and developmental studies.
- Research Output: 39 research contributions include studies on Celsr1, Ptk7, and Tulp3 genes linked to craniorachischisis, neural tube patterning, and centrosomal protein functions.
