Jenny Karlsson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the Swedish Red Cross College Soren Andersson. Her clinical expertise spans psychiatric care, particularly in child and adolescent psychiatric 24-hour care. She teaches psychiatric nursing in undergraduate and specialist nursing programs.
Her research focuses on implementing the Safewards model to reduce violence and coercive measures in psychiatric care. Current projects include analyzing nurses' identification of mental ill-health in older men and contributing to advanced caregiving literature on youth mental health.
Professional roles include serving as vice-chair of the Swedish National Association of Psychiatric Nurses and on the Swedish Nurses Association's nomination committee. She is co-editing a chapter on youth mental health for an upcoming textbook (spring 2024).
