Jenny Högström serves as a Grant-Aided Researcher in the Department of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki, specializing in digital education technologies and multilingual classroom dynamics. Her research focuses on the intersection of social justice, technology access, and Nordic educational contexts through the long-running Connected Classrooms Nordic project.
Her research interests explore digital literacy in multilingual settings, examining how writing technologies affect student agency and identity formation. She investigates the affective dimensions of technology access, particularly how "sticky, slippery, and smooth" interfaces shape learning experiences in lower secondary classrooms across Nordic countries.
Her recent publications reveal a strong focus on postdigital education, analyzing power relations in remote learning environments and how students negotiate boundaries around anti-pluralist political content in social studies classrooms. Her work combines educational psychology with critical technology studies to examine both the material and social aspects of digital learning tools.
Högström actively participates in academic discourse through conference presentations on technology, affect, and agency in education, with recent appearances at Nordic educational research events in 2023-2025. Her collaborative work extends across Scandinavian institutions through the Connected Classrooms Nordic project.
