Jenny FAUCHEU

Jenny FAUCHEU is a Professor and Head of the Physical Mechanics and Interfaces (MPI) Department at MINES Saint-Étienne, part of the Center Materials and Structures Science. Her research focuses on Augmented Materials and Perception Engineering, bridging material science with user-centered product design. She holds a PhD in Materials Science from INSA Lyon and a Habilitation from Université Jean Monnet.

Research Interests: Development of functional composite materials, sensory metrology for material perception, and optimizing user-product interactions through material engineering. Her work integrates multidisciplinary approaches combining materials characterization with cognitive and behavioral sciences.

• Winner Best Presentation Award – ICFD 2008
• Winner Gordon Best Paper Award – 82nd Annual Meeting FSCT 2004

Teaching & Industry: Leads courses in Industrial Design and Materials Engineering. Collaborated with Hexadrone (2016) on drone development and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (2013) on tactile sensation research. Active in Design Thinking and user experience pedagogy.

Labs/Teams: Core member of MPI Department, with prior roles at NIST (2003–2005) and MATEIS Lab (2005–2008).
