Dr. Jenny Daniel holds the title of Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre within the English & Creative Arts school, supported by an L&T Fellowship. Her research focuses on musical theatre pedagogy, ethnomusicology, and interdisciplinary arts practices. She completed her PhD in Music/Performance at the University of Leeds (2016), examining Opera North’s access initiatives. Currently, she serves as an external examiner for research degrees at the University of Huddersfield. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and cultural inclusion.
Research interests include digital DIY practices in creative arts education, performance care methodologies, and feminist critiques of creative labor. Recent publications address lockdown impacts on arts pedagogy and the intersection of ethnomusicology with domestic spaces. She contributes to research centers like the Centre for Social Responsibility and the Emergent Media & Entertainment Group.
Dr. Daniel’s scholarly output spans 8 publications from 2010–2025, with a recent emphasis on assessing creative educational models and exploring interdisciplinary approaches to music performance. Awards include the prestigious L&T Fellowship recognizing her academic contributions.
