Jenny Bortoluzzi

Dr. Jenny Bortoluzzi is a Research and Teaching Fellow at Trinity College Dublin, affiliated with the Jackson and Payne Lab within the Department of Zoology. With a background in Marine Biology from the University of Southampton and University of Plymouth (UK), she completed her PhD in Zoology at Trinity College Dublin in March 2023. Her work spans marine ecology, conservation, and human-environment interactions.

Her research focuses on elasmobranch (sharks, skates, rays) ecology and conservation, examining their interactions with recreational and commercial fisheries, socio-economic significance, and management strategies. Recent publications highlight her work in marine species monitoring (2023), stable isotope analysis innovations (2021), tidal phase impacts on shark behavior (2020), and jellyfish sample preparation methods (2017). These studies span marine biodiversity tracking, habitat partitioning, and analytical chemistry advancements.

She teaches Environmental Monitoring at both undergraduate and masters levels while continuing research in the Piggott Lab. Collaborations with institutions like IFREMER and the IUCN Shark Specialist Group demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach to marine conservation challenges.
